🎨 Why I Started Creating Coloring Books & This Blog 🖍️
Hi, I’m Jin! 👋 A designer, a coloring book artist, an aunt to three amazing nieces, and someone who loves to see kids express themselves through art.
One day, when my niece was very young, we sat down to draw together. She picked up a crayon and carefully drew a tiny little mouse in the corner of a huge blank paper. Just a tiny mouse, hiding in a corner.
Her mom noticed and said,
"Why not draw something BIG? You have so much space!"
At that moment, my niece hesitated. She stopped drawing.
That small moment stayed with me. Why did she stop? Did she feel like her small drawing wasn’t "good enough" just because it wasn’t big?
As she grew up, she became more confident. One day, we colored together again—this time, she boldly filled the center of the page. That’s when I realized something powerful:
🌈 Art is a child’s language. It reflects their emotions, confidence, and how they see the world.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------💭 What If We Stopped Nagging & Started Noticing?
I started paying attention to how adults talk to children—how small comments, even well-meaning ones, can shape their confidence.
👩🏫 "Stay in the lines!" – Does it matter? What if their creativity shines outside the lines?
🎨 "Use the right colors!" – Who says the sky has to be blue? Maybe today, it’s pink!
🚦 "Don’t waste paper!" – But what if that little scribble is a big idea in their mind?
We don’t always realize it, but kids express themselves in ways we don’t expect. Instead of directing their creativity, what if we let them lead?
❤️ A Lesson from My Own Childhood
One day, I saw something that changed how I view emotions.
A mother made breakfast for her daughter, who was rushing to school. The daughter was in a hurry, got frustrated, and left without eating.
The mother didn’t say a word. Instead, she quietly went to her room and wiped away tears. 💔
That morning, something clicked in me.
It’s not about what we say—it’s about how we connect.
From then on, I started waking up earlier, eating breakfast with my mother, sharing small moments together.
That’s why I create coloring books that help kids and parents bond. It’s not just about coloring—it’s about sitting together, talking, and understanding each other through colors and creativity.
✨ Why Coloring Books Matter
🎨 1. They bring kids & adults together.
Coloring isn’t just for kids! It’s a fun way for parents, teachers, and caregivers to spend quality time with children.
🖍️ 2. They help us understand children better.
Want to know what your child is feeling? Look at their colors. Bright yellows? Happy! Dark colors? Maybe they need a hug.
💡 3. They boost brain power!
Coloring helps kids (and adults!) improve focus, creativity, and emotional expression. Plus, choosing colors stimulates the brain!
🌈 4. There’s no right or wrong way to color!
Let kids fill the page, leave spaces blank, mix crazy colors—it's their world!
That’s why I create coloring books with hidden messages—books that teach, inspire, and give kids and parents a reason to color, chat, and connect.
So next time you see a child coloring, ask them about their picture. You might be surprised at what they tell you! 💕
